ALA Annual Conference - Council Report and Notes
As ILA's Chapter representative to the American Library Association, I have just taken part in the ALA Annual Conference held July 10-15 in Chicago. In my role as Chapter Councilor, I participate in the governance of ALA as a member of Council. In addition, I have the privilege of being a member of the ALA Chapter Relations Committee. My report focuses heavily on the business of Council, but I've included some additional information that came up at Chapter Relations Committee meetings.
I know it is a long at 10 pages, but I encourage all members of the Idaho Library Association to review the documents. The Idaho Library Association is a Chapter of ALA and, therefore, it is important that we lend our voices to the larger library community. It is good keep in touch with what is happening nationally. And, for all I heard during the conference, what is happening locally is also happening nationally. Our stories are the same. We might have different characters and a different landscape, but libraries across the country are experiencing the same struggles. There is a lot to be learned from each other.
The report of my 2009 ALA Annual Confernece experience is attached.
It is always a pleasure to represent Idaho; we have so much I get to brag about!
