I grew up in Colorado where I worked as a shelver at the Fort Collins Public Library. That is where I decided I wanted to be a librarian. I attended the University of South Carolina where I got my masters in Library and Information Science. After graduation my husband and I moved to Boise and I have been working as a Children’s Librarian at Ada Community Library every since!
Kim Leeder, An Ongoing Makeover: The Evolving Story of Library Spaces
Kim is a Reference and Instruction Librarian at Boise State University. Before securing her current position at BSU, she had the pleasure of working briefly at the Star Branch of Ada Community Library and at N.L. Terteling Library at the College of Idaho. From 2004-2006, while completing her library degree, she worked as a special assistant to the Dean of Libraries at the University of Arizona.
Vicki Kreimeyer & Jody Vestal, Free from the Fortress: The Roving Reference Revolution
Vicki Kreimeyer, Manager of Adult Services at Boise Public Library, has substantial public service experience in academic, special and State libraries. She served at Lewis and Clark College Library in Portland in public services, was Associate Director for Public Services at the Idaho State Library, and Deputy State Librarian at the Washington State Library before coming to Boise Public Library. She served as project leader to bring 24/7 virtual reference services to Idaho. She enjoys the dynamic environment in the public library, the challenges that require public service to integrate technology and the human touch, and is delighted to serve with a highly capable committed staff at Boise Public Library. Vicki earned her MLS from University of Michigan and MPA from Portland State University.
Jody Vestal has been a Reference Librarian at Boise Public Library since July, 2005, and a part time Reference Librarian at Eagle Public Library since September, 2004. Her professional interests include roving reference; collection development for the reference collection, programming and outreach, Adult Summer Reading programs, reader’s advisory and staff training. She earned an MLIS from University of North Texas in August, 2004 and has a BA from Boise State University in English/Secondary Education.
Kimbre Champman, Cori M. Avara-Sanchez, & Sara Pemburton, Early Literacy: Puppetry, Wildness, and Lapsit Storytimes.
Kimbre Chapman is the Children’s Librarian at Caldwell Public Library. She graduated with her MLS from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida in 2006, and has been running the Children’s Department since January 2007. Cori Avara Sanchez is the Children’s Department Assistant at the Caldwell Library. She is earning her Bachelor’s degree in Media Arts and Animation at the University of Pittsburg online. They believe the number one goal of storytime is to have fun! Sara Pemberton received her Bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara, Teaching Credential from CSU Sacramento. She is a Program Specialist at Kuna, planning and leading programs for children ranging from newborns to teens. She leads a twice weekly lapsit program: Kuna Book Babies.
David Harrell & Dylan Baker, Leadership and Communication
David Harrell, IT Support Tech for the Idaho Commission for Libraries, has worked in libraries and the library community since 1995. He holds a BA in History and an MS in Geography from Oklahoma State University. Dylan Baker is a Youth Services Librarian at Ada Community, an active member of SPLAT team and a member of the ICFL Pegasus Team.
Dylan is also presenting Get Your Game On: Video Games for All Ages @ Your Library.
Susie Colthorp, Programs & Services for the Senior Population
Presenting at the conference is meaningful to me because of the close relationship I shared with my grandmother who passed away at the age of 97. I’ve worked at the Mountain Home Library for just over two years. I have three grandchildren who I enjoy very much. Riding horses is one of my favorite things. I appreciate the snow this winter, but I can’t wait until spring.
Mary K Jones Aucutt, Blood, Sweat & Money
Mary K Aucutt has been the staff of the Funding Information Center (FIC) at the Boise Public Library since 1988, providing technical assistance and capacity building services to both grant makers and grant seekers. The FIC is a specialized collection of print and electronic resources, and related materials that provide information about individual, corporate, and private philanthropy, government grant opportunities, and other fund development, strategic planning, and program assessment and evaluation.
Prior to establishing the FIC, Mary K worked for a nonprofit economic development agency linking employment–generating programs with economic and resource development activities. Mary K has extensive experience working with both public and private organizations including grant-making foundations and corporations, local government, and community-based organizations as not only a grant seeker and a grant recipient, but also a grant reviewer and grant maker.
Mary K was recognized by the Idaho Business Review as “Woman of the Year – 2006” citing her knowledge and dedication to the well-being of the civic and nonprofit sectors of our state. That same year, the Idaho Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals awarded the City of Boise and Boise Public Library an award for Public Service citing their support of the Funding Information Center.
Jenny Lynne Semenza, Notes from a Wandering Librarian
Jenny Lynne Semenza is the Head of Reference and Instructional Services at Idaho State University. She has taught workshops on subjects as diverse as Blogs and Blogging, Advanced research with Ebsco, and Intro to Web 2.0. Jenny is interested in all things related to Public Services and is currently on sabbatical exploring the diversity of public and distance services at academic libraries throughout the west.
Paul Higgins, An Introduction to Storytelling
Paul is the founder and current President of the Treasure Valley Storytellers. He has been actively involved in storytelling, public speaking and teaching elementary school children since 1992.
Diane Rice & Jo Ellen Ringer, Graphic Novels in Your Library
Diane Rice is currently a Reference Librarian/Program Coordinator at the Ada Community Library in Boise, Idaho. She is completing her MSLS from the University of North Texas as a distance learning student, loves to travel and grow in her understanding of the creative process of writing and reading. Her beagle dog Blue is a therapy dog that (she hopes) will help children with their reading in libraries. Mothering both a college age and middle school aged student helps keep her informed in trends such as graphic novels, comics and manga, while her husband keeps her centered in real life.
Jo Ellen Ringer has been the Director of Notus Public Library for the past four years. She is a dog lover and works with the Middleton Food Bank.

Joy Lear & Darlene Hotchkiss, The Teen Scene
Joy Lear has worked in public libraries for 27 years in California, Idaho, and Washington, primarily in youth and young adult services and is currently the manager of Star and Hidden Springs Branch Libraries in the Ada Community Library system.
Darlene Hotchkiss taught English for twenty-two years at Fruitland High School and moved into librarianship at Parma just last year.
Stephanie Taylor, Ezequiel Luna, & Leslie Baker, YRCA Nominees 2009
Stephanie Taylor is a Library Associate at Nampa Public Library. She has a B.A. in Family History-Genealogy and is currently an MLIS student with San Jose State University.
Ezequiel Luna has worked at Nampa Public Library since October of 2003, currently as an Associate II. He received his Bachelor’s in Secondary Education (emphasis in History and Political Science) from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. He is a proud husband and father of four sons, ranging in ages from one to fifteen years!
Leslie Baker has worked in libraries for over eight years. She is thrilled to be part of Boise Public’s new Collister Branch.

Laura has been Library Director in Jerome since September 2007. Loving it! Tina has been working for the library for seven years; started the Read to Me Program and then volunteered to start the teen program; in 2005 she became an official employee and Digital Native Services Coordinator Extraordinaire.

Shelly Drumm, Cell Phones: They’re Not Just for Talking Anymore
Shelly is a librarian and long-time technophile. She earns her living as the Emergent Technologies Trainer for BCR, located in Aurora, Colorado. Prior to landing that fabulous gig, she worked the front lines at reference desks of all sorts, including community colleges, research universities, career colleges, and public libraries. She has a Master of Arts in Information Resources & Library Science from the University of Arizona, Tucson.
Dr. Steve Barrett, Researching and Writing Creative Family History
Ph.D., American Lit, University of New Hampshire, 1997; MA, Creative Writing, Florida State University, 1990; and BA, Miami University of Ohio, Creative Writing, 1987. Former archivist and family history research specialist, ISHS. Currently management assistant to ISHS Executive Director, Janet Gallimore. He has lived in Boise and worked for ISHS for ten years. Married and father of five year old daughter, Nicole.
