Azam Houle - "Dare to Read!"
Azam Houle is a Youth Services Librarian at the Boise Public Library. A native of Iran and a strong voice for diversity and human rights, Azam works as a volunteer in conflict resolution for the Community Relation service division of the United States Department of Justice. She has served as a judge for the Best of Gannett, a yearly awards competition in reporting and public service.
Azam writes and speaks frequently on peace, human rights, and social justice issues. She has written for local newspapers and her commentaries have aired on Public Radio. Azam is a recipient of the Idaho Voices of Faith for Human Rights Award. Last April, she was recognized as an Idaho Extraordinary Witness for her activism in human rights.
