Capitol for a Day
The Idaho Library Association is proud to assist Idaho libraries in inviting First Lady Lori Otter to visit their community’s library.
As her schedule allows, First Lady Otter is willing to visit Idaho libraries and read to kids during the couple’s “Capitol for a Day” visit.
Interested libraries should do the following:
- Visit the Governor’s website to watch for press releases indicating dates and communities to be visited http://gov.idaho.gov/. (Please note that to date no calendar of visits are posted so you must watch for the press release.)
- If your community is named as a “Capitol for a Day” visit, contact Jon Hanian or Marc Warbis at 334-2100 at the governor’s office to schedule Mrs. Otter’s visit.
- Once the appointment is scheduled:
- Invite families, daycares, community members and any Read-to-Me partners to be present during her visit.
- Set aside good read-aloud books for her visit.
- Arrange any other details for the day of the event, i.e. photos, refreshments, extra seating.
- On the day of the visit, if given the opportunity please feel free to mention the Idaho Commission for Libraries’ Read-to-Me program and how it had benefited your patrons and remember to share how important your library is to your community!
