LiLAC Applications Are Open
In 2014, the Idaho Library Association and the Idaho Commission for Libraries came together to support the Library Leadership Advisory Committee, otherwise known as LiLAC. Since then 35 members of the Idaho library community have given service through this committee to foster a culture of leadership development in our state-wide community. To review a list of current and previous members, please go to http://libraries.idaho.gov/leadership.
Twelve library community members representing all levels of librarianship, all levels of education, and all levels of our geographically diverse state work collaboratively to inform our community about leadership development activities, develop and promote leadership opportunities, and mentor others in librarianship. Through this experience, there have been leadership development workshops sponsored, a leadership recognition program established, and a mentoring resource page developed and shared. In addition, each of these LiLAC members have furthered their personal leadership development through networking, mentoring, and other activities.
Here are the expectations:
- Serve a 1-year term, with the option of serving a second year.
- Attend 3 face to face meetings in Boise (travel and hotel reimbursed).
- Collaborate with others on fostering a leadership environment throughout the Idaho library community which may require 5-10 hours per month.
This application is open to all members of the Idaho library community, including public library trustees. It is important to have all the voices at the table as we continue to build our leadership culture. The application will be open until March 30, 2018. All applicants will be notified by April 16 of their status. More information about LiLAC can be found online at http://www.idaholibraries.org/lilac and at http://libraries.idaho.gov/leadership. Connect with current or former members to learn about their experience.
