Resolution Regarding the Idaho State Library Budget Request for FY 2002

 

 

WHEREAS the Idaho State Library provides important government information services and library services to people with disabilities;

 

AND WHEREAS the Idaho State Library provides important coordination and leadership services for all the libraries in Idaho;

 

AND WHEREAS the Idaho State Library has requested state funding to continue important programs, including the LiLI database project, the Read-to-Me program, the Z39.50 virtual catalog, and field office services;

 

AND WHEREAS the Idaho State Library has requested funding to support a new school library consultant position to help improve school libraries statewide;

 

AND WHEREAS the Idaho State Library has requested funding for a new document delivery system that would provide a 24 hour delivery of interlibrary loans between the academic libraries within the state;

 

AND WHEREAS the Idaho State Library has requested funding to support the creation of a new Government Information Locator Service that would make government information more accessible to all Idahoans;

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Idaho Library Association enthusiastically supports full funding for the Idaho State Library's budget request for fiscal year 2002.

 

Copies of this resolution to be sent to the Governor, the President Pro-Temp or the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Co-Chairs of the Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee, the Chairs of the Education Committees of the Senate and the House.
