First General Session

Lewiston, Idaho     October 5, 2000

President Ron Force extended greetings from the Idaho Library Association.

He introduced Janet Strong, PNLA Representative, who extended greetings from PNLA and invited people to the PNLA conference in Corvallis, August 8-10, 2001. The Hawaiian Library Association will be joining PNLA for this conference.  The theme is Libraries in the Ring of Fire - Feeling the Heat. Please give any ideas you have for future PNLA Conferences to Janet.

Dawn Wittman was introduced and gave election results for this year.  Kay Flowers won the election for ALA Councilor.  Her opponent, Vicki Kreimeyer Brown will take on the position of Legislative Committee Chair.  Our new Treasurer is Chris Murphy who will take over for Sandi Shropshire on January 1, 2001, providing the resolution to revise the date of the term change passes.

Ron read the resolution to change the term of Treasurer to begin in January  as opposed to immediately after the conference.  The membership will vote on the resolution during the Second General Session.

Ron announced that there are tables available on which to put items for the Intellectual Freedom Auction.  Everyone should look the items over before the auction.
