Now that I've returned from Washington, DC, and the ALA Annual Conference, my report of Council events that took place during the conference is available on my Reports page on ILA website.

As I write, I'm currently taking part in the first ALA Council session of this meeting. If I had to pick a theme for the morning, I'd say we're talking a lot about transparency. There is a sort of disconnect in what role ALA plays for those members and state chapter members that are unable to attend the conferences. A discussion about how we can create a buzz about Council leads to many other issues. In terms of transparency (Hey, Council, what have you done for me lately?), ALA is taking some small, but forward, steps toward better transparency.
