Idaho Library Association Professional Recognition Awards and Scholarship Winners
During the October 6, 2011 Idaho Library Association’s Annual Conference Awards Banquet and Ceremony the winners of educational scholarships and professional recognition awards were announced. The banquet also recognized the current MLIS (Masters of Library and Information Science) students and new librarians.

Join Mitch Wieland, Author of God's Dogs, for Lunch and Conversation Wednesday, October 5th
Be sure to register for the preconference and join author Mitch Wieland for lunch on Wednesday, October 5th. Mitch was born in Dover, Ohio. He has lived in Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Tuscaloosa, and Tokyo, Japan. Wieland holds an MFA from The University of Alabama, and once served as fiction editor of Black Warrior Review. Wieland is currently a full professor at Boise State University, where he has taught for fifteen years. One of the founders of Boise State’s MFA program, he was its director for four years.

ILA seeking Legislative Co-Chair
The Idaho Library Association is seeking an individual interested in serving on the ILA Board as the Legislative Committee Co-Chair. This position is one of the most important for ILA. In conjunction with John Watts, our lobbyist, our Legislative Co-Chairs have helped shape Idaho policy on library board elections, internet access and filtering in public libraries, bonding percentage caps, and state library appropriations, as well as worked with the First Lady on the Read to Me program.
